Stopped for lunch this morning with a coworker. Ordered the club sandwich and fries. Waitress was friendly and brought drink refills in a timely manner. My sandwich was more something I would expect at someone's home than from a restaurant and that's not a complaint at all. Solid 4/5 and no complaints.

Ok, you may feel very confused by the fact that reviews have been either five stars or no stars here. I'll make it easy - IMHO, if you enjoy a classic small family restaurant with a killer buffet and simple, down home food like your grandmother made, you'll like Al's. If you want chain-like perfection with variety that is ridiculously huge and cookie-cutter, or you want a $40 surf and turf dinner, this will never be for you. If it were closer, I'd live here during Lent - the best Perch in the Thumb, and probably eastern Michigan, and homemade tartar sauce as well.

Perch Dinner was super 6 large pieces of perch. Large desert bar to die for. Even given a to go box for more desert.

Last time I was here it was very bad everything was cold bread had mold on it just very bad all around.

Ugh...reuben had slabs of fatty gray meat on soggy pumpernickel. Not good. Take it off the menu if you can't make it edible...sheesh. Salad bar was nice and ice cream machine worked. That reuben was soo terrible I couldn't possibly recommend this place to anyone. The french fries were made well but over salted.

Tried this place twice, I wanted so badly for it to be better than it was. Had breakfast the first time, I never knew bacon could be bad. Tried dinner thinking maybe that was their thing. Had fried chicken and while the portions were huge, and the chicken itself was actually pretty good, the mashed potatoes and canned corn were just awful. It did come with all you can eat soup and salad, which was decent, but nothing to write home about. Service was also pretty bad. I would be ok with it if they were packed, but we were the ONLY people there and it was as if we were a nuisance to the server. We won't go back.
